THE COLLECTION
The Espírito Santo Dancers Union (UDES) Collection brings together more than 100 photo and video recordings that portray part of the history of the Espírito Santo Urban Dance Encounters. Created by dancer, choreographer, artist, and researcher Yuriê Perazzini, the project is sensitively curated by the creator in partnership with cultural producer Erica Vilhena and visual artist Nunah Alle.
The curation covers themes such as: collectivities, diversity, languages, territories, colors, fashion and visual identity, and included textual contributions from researchers from various areas of knowledge, namely: Gal Martins (SP), Erineusa Maria da Silva (ES), Frank Ejara (SP), Leonardo Rapman (ES), Zênia Cáo (ES), Sabrina Abade (ES) and Ruth Rangel (ES).
Dance is power, body awareness, and representation. How many are part of history that we don't know about? How many stories do we continue to tell without recording? Today, we have tools that enable us to construct new memories, new research formats, and new access points. It is from these perspectives that we intend to contribute to strengthening the cultural memory of Espírito Santo regarding urban dance and urban cultures.
